Queen Bee

Queen Bee is an uninflated crocheted balloon dress created by Casey Rosenberg for the 2024 Twist and Shout international balloon convention. According to the specifications of the competition, the dress is more than %70 latex balloons. Through the extensive three month process of creating Queen Bee, Casey glued over 2,000 balloons into yarn, and made 500 deflated balloon bees. Queen Bee won the First Place and People’s Choice awards in the balloon dress competition, making Casey the first competitor to win with a dress made entirely of uninflated balloons.

You can see Queen Bee on display at the Richey Gallery at the Lakewood Cultural Center in Lakewood Colorado from Oct 15th, 2024 through Jan 3rd, 2025.

Casey would like to thank Jane Rosenberg, Melanie Rosenberg, Liam Bootzin, Broderick Truettner, and Isaac Narang for their help with the Queen Bee project.
